Oct 31 , 2005 - Nascar Ford 400 and Big Boat Show On
The countdown to the Ford 400 is down to 17 days. There was some damage to the Homestead Miami speedway from hurricane Wilma but the race is still on schedule. The green flag is scheduled to drop on Sunday, November 20, 2005. That's the main event.
Racing Means Traffic
In addition to the Ford 400 race, there is the Busch series Ford 300 on November 19, and the Craftsman Truck Series Ford 200 on November 18. So the week before thanksgiving will be a busy one in south Florida. If you plan on attending leave early and be prepared for the traffic. If you aren't going to the race then avoid the area all together.
1000 Boats
The boat show is on. That's the word from the Fort Lauderdale International boat show. The big show that shows off thousands of boats ranging from runabouts to superyachts. The show was rescheduled due to hurricane Wilma and will take place Thursday November 3 through Sunday November 6, 2005.
The boat show is a must see if you are thinking about getting a boat. There are over 1,000 boats in the water. Every kind of boat is on display including sportfishers, high performance boats, center colsoles, cabin cruisers, sail boats, and more. The superyachts that run in the millions and can be 200 hundred feet long are especially impressive.
Boats Everywhere
General admission to the Fort Lauderdale boat show is $16 for one day or $25 for a two pass. Children ages 6 to 12 are $5. The show is located in five different areas including the following:
- Bahia Mar Yachting Center
- Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center
- Marriott Portside Marina
- Hall of Fame Marina
- Las Olas Marina
The Hyatt Pier 66 Hotel and Marina is not open due to hurricane Wilma.
