If you are thinking about a new car or truck consider a virtual test ride. Most of the big car makers have a "build your own" tool that lets you pick your make and model and then specify all the details. Pick the exterior paint color and style, decide on leather or cloth, and add the options you want.

Here are a few of our favorite car maker websites that let you build your own car.
Hummer allows you to go beyond picking your basic model, color and options. You step through every possible accessory and see them added to your hummer.
Create your own Cadillac CTS
Build your own Corvette, Avalanche, SSR or other GM car.
Click on the red Ford Mustang and see a very cool video of the Mustang shooting up a rooster tail of dirt as it blasts 300 plus horsepower.
Build a 2006 RSX or any of the other sporty Acura's.
VW has a slick site that lets you ceate your own Beetle, Jetta, Touareg, and all the other great VWs.

Creating your new car before you buy it make the entire process much smoother. As you walk through the process you will see every color and option available. Many times you will be surprised what is available. You will see the different engines and transmissions to pick from so you get the power you want. A huge benefit of building your car online is that you see the prices of every option. Many times you will discover that you can get everything you want cheaper by picking a different package.
Car Audio, Satellite, GPS
Car makers today are offering all kinds of options with new cars. The stereo (or audio systems) systems available today range from a basic CD player to an eight speaker killer Bose system. Many of the car makers are even offering a Satellite radio as a factory option. And some even offer a GPS navigation system. GM has one of the widest offerings of Satellite and GPS systems and don't forget OnStar. The Hummer website is a great one. Even if you don't want a Hummer try it out.

In addition to seeing your new car and knowing every option you will also know what the manufacturer price is. You will be asked to enter your zip code on almost build your own car site so the car maker can find you the car you want in your area.
